HomeStart and the Department of Neighborhood Development have new funding assistance for youth and young adults (18-24) who are couch surfing/unstably housed.
The Boston Youth Flex Fund was created to assist youth and young adults in Boston who are unstably housed with a small, one-time payment to move to a permanent housing destination. Permanent housing destinations can be flexible, such as permanent stays with friends, family, or relocations.
Eligibility: youth and young adults (18-24)
- who are doubled up/couchsurfing and are not eligible for mainstream housing resources available to people experiencing literal homelessness OR who are fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence with Boston residency, who do not require longer financial or services support which could be provided by another program
- must live in Boston or be enrolled in the Boston Public School system, or recently displaced from Boston due to violence
